Day 1 (07/30) – Wake Up, Sleeper
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” – Ephesians 5:14 (NIV)
Devotional Thought:
There are moments in life when we stop living fully and begin simply existing. Numb. Worn out. Emotionally checked out. Spiritually dry. Sometimes, we don’t even realize how far we’ve drifted until something wakes us up.
In Ephesians 5:14, Paul issues a wake-up call to believers:
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
This isn’t a call to strive or perform. It’s an invitation to step out of stagnation and into the light of Jesus — the kind of light that restores your soul, renews your mind, and revives your purpose.
You may have been asleep emotionally. Spiritually. Mentally. Maybe you’ve allowed wounds from the past, disappointment, or fear to silence your hunger for more. But Christ’s light is calling you to rise. To open your heart. To believe again. To feel again. To live again.
He’s not asking you to clean everything up first. He’s just asking you to wake up — and let Him shine in.
Reflect:
- What areas of your life feel spiritually numb or asleep?
- Is there a part of your heart you’ve stopped exposing to God?
- What would it look like to truly wake up and let Christ’s light shine in that place?
Prayer:
Father, I confess that there are places in my life where I’ve grown weary, distant, or numb. I’ve allowed pain, complacency, or fear to take root. But today, I hear Your call to wake up. Breathe fresh life into me. Help me rise in faith, hope, and purpose. Shine Your light on the dark places and help me walk fully in You again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Don’t walk this journey alone because God calls us to be in communion with other believers.
