The Voice You Listen to Matters
đź“– Scripture:
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” – John 10:27 (NIV)
🙌🏻 Devotional:
In John 10:27, Jesus reminds us that hearing His voice is rooted in relationship. Sheep recognize their shepherd’s voice because they have spent time with him — walking with him, trusting him, and depending on him for safety and provision.
In the same way, we grow to recognize the voice of Jesus by staying close to Him in prayer, worship, and reading His Word. Every day, competing voices try to influence us — voices of fear, anxiety, self-doubt, and even the opinions of others. These voices may be loud, but they are not our Shepherd. His voice always leads us toward peace, truth, and life.
The voice you follow will determine the direction you take. Make it your priority to tune your heart to Jesus so His voice becomes the loudest in your life.
Key Takeaway:
The more time you spend with the Shepherd, the more clearly you’ll recognize His voice — even in the middle of life’s noise.
📝 Reflection Questions:
- What are some “voices” in my life that have been influencing me lately?
- How can I create more space to hear from God clearly each day?
- When was the last time I followed God’s leading even when it didn’t make sense? What was the outcome?
- What daily habits can help me stay close to the Shepherd?
🙏🏻 Prayer:
Lord, help me to tune out the voices that bring confusion and fear. Teach me to recognize and follow Your voice above all others. Thank You for knowing me, guiding me, and leading me to places of peace and purpose. Amen.
