Ungodly Soul Ties Can Weigh Us Down, Keeping Us Bound to the Past

God created us for connection—first with Him, and then with others in relationships that honor Him. A soul tie is a deep emotional or spiritual bond between people. When it’s rooted in God’s love (such as in a healthy marriage, friendship, or family), it brings life and blessing. But when it forms outside of God’s will—through sexual sin, manipulation, control, or unhealthy attachments—it becomes an ungodly soul tie.
Ungodly soul ties can weigh us down, keeping us bound to the past and preventing us from fully experiencing God’s freedom. They can cause confusion, guilt, and even hinder us from stepping into the new relationships and purposes God has for us.
The good news is that Jesus came to set us free. Through His blood, every chain can be broken. When we confess, repent, and surrender those ties to Him, He heals our hearts, restores our purity, and makes us whole. Our ultimate union is meant to be with Christ, where our souls find true peace and fulfillment.

Heavenly Father, I thank You that You designed my soul to be free and whole in You. I bring before You every relationship and every bond that has kept me tied to the past in an ungodly way. By the power of Jesus’ blood, I break every unhealthy soul tie and release myself into Your healing and freedom. Unite my heart fully with Yours and lead me into the relationships that reflect Your love and truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
