September 16 Devotional

The Laying on Of Hands Is a Biblical Act of Faith and Obedience. It’s Not Our Power that Heals – It Is the Power of Jesus Christ

đź“– Scripture:

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.. they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” -Mark 16:17-18 (NIV)

🙌🏻 Devotional:

The laying on of hands is more than a symbolic gesture—it is an act of faith that invites the power of God to move. Throughout the Bible, we see this practice used for healing, blessing, and impartation. Jesus Himself often touched those He healed, and He gave His disciples the same authority to do so in His name.

When we lay hands on the sick, we are agreeing with God’s Word that healing is possible through Christ. It reminds us that the power doesn’t come from us, but from the Holy Spirit working through us. Healing may be physical, emotional, or spiritual, and it always points back to God’s love and desire to restore His children.

âť“ Reflection Questions

  1. Do I truly believe that God’s healing power is still active today through the name of Jesus
  2. Am I open to being used by God as a vessel of healing for others?
  3. What area of my life do I need to lay before God for His healing touch?

🙏🏻 Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are still the God who heals. Thank You for sending Jesus, who bore our sicknesses and carried our pains. Lord, I ask for boldness to walk in faith, to lay hands on the sick, and to trust You for healing. Heal me in every place where I am weak—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Use me as a vessel of Your love and power, and let every healing bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
