Scripture:

“Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead. Return to the Lord your God, for He is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.” — Joel 2:13 (NLT)

💭 Reflection:

Repentance isn’t about theatrics. It’s not about sounding spiritual or appearing sorrowful on the outside.

It’s about your heart.

In Joel 2:13, God says: “Don’t tear your clothing in grief, but tear your hearts instead.”

In ancient times, people tore their clothes as a sign of mourning — but God was calling for something deeper. He wanted their hearts, not just their habits.

True repentance is an internal shift.

It’s not just confessing sin — it’s turning away from it and returning to the One who welcomes you back with mercy, compassion, and unfailing love.

Repentance is not shame-based. It’s hope-filled.

It’s the doorway to healing, freedom, and renewed intimacy with God.

🙏 Prayer:

Father, I don’t want to just look like I’m sorry. I want to be transformed.

Reveal anything in me that I’ve tried to hide, excuse, or cover up.

Give me a heart that’s soft, humble, and willing to return to You fully.

Thank You for Your mercy that meets me in repentance and leads me into restoration.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
