Whom Am I Really Living For?
๐ Scripture:
โAm I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? โ – Galatians 1:10 (NIV)
๐๐ป Devotional:
Paul is drawing a line between living for the applause of people and living in full obedience to God. When our motivation is manโs approval, we compromise truth to keep others happy. But being a servant of Christ requires loyalty, even when it costs us popularity or acceptance. True freedom and identity come when we rest in Godโs approval alone.
This verse challenges us to ask: Who am I really living for? If itโs God, then obedience may sometimes mean rejection by people โ but it always leads to life, peace, and eternal reward.
โ Reflection Questions
- In what areas of my life am I more concerned about peopleโs opinions than Godโs truth?
- Have I ever compromised my convictions just to avoid conflict or gain approval?
- What would it look like for me to live fully as a servant of Christ in my work, family, and ministry?
- How can I remind myself daily that Godโs approval is all I truly need?
๐๐ป Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for the times Iโve sought the approval of people over obedience to You. I confess that people-pleasing has pulled me away from bold faith at times. Lord, I want to live as Your servant, committed to truth and surrendered to Your will. Strengthen me with courage to stand firm, even when it costs me acceptance. Help me rest in the security of being chosen, loved, and approved by You through Christ. May my life bring glory to You alone.
In Jesusโ name, Amen.
