When We Pause and Recognize that He Is God, We Find Peace that Surpasses All Understanding

πŸ“– Scripture:

β€œBe still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the ntions, I will be exalted in the earth.” β€” Psalm 46:10

πŸ™ŒπŸ» Devotional:

Psalm 46:10 is God’s call to pause, stop striving, and trust Him completely. To β€œbe still” means to rest in His presence, relinquishing control and acknowledging His sovereignty. It reminds us that God is in control of every situation, even when life feels chaotic or uncertain. By focusing on Him rather than our fears, we experience peace and strength that only He can provide.

I used to strive for performance, achievement, recognition, and climbing the ladder in my jobs/businesses. I look back now and see how that consumed me. I am so thankful that God is healing me and pulling me closer to him. I too have a part in this healing which is to pause, be still, seek his face, and long for his presence.

❓ Reflection Questions

  1. Which areas of my life feel out of control or stressful right now?
  2. How can I intentionally pause and β€œbe still” before God today?
  3. What does trusting God in this situation look like practically?
  4. How has God shown His power or faithfulness in my life when I surrendered control to Him?

πŸ™πŸ» Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Help me to truly be still in Your presence. Calm my heart and quiet my mind when I feel overwhelmed. Teach me to trust Your timing, Your plans, and Your power. Remind me that You are greater than any storm I face and that Your will prevails in every circumstance. Let my life reflect Your glory, and may You be exalted in all I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
