August 25 Devotional

The Lie of Later

đź“– Scripture:

“The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” – Proverbs 28:1

🙌🏻 Devotional:

1. Contrast of Responses:

• The “wicked” are described as running even when there’s no real threat. This illustrates fear, guilt, and avoidance — running from truth, responsibility, or accountability.

• The “righteous,” on the other hand, are confident and bold. Their courage comes from trusting in God and knowing they walk in integrity.

2. Fear vs. Faith:

• Avoidance often stems from fear — fear of confrontation, exposure, or stepping into responsibility.

• Boldness comes from faith — when we rely on God, we can stand firm even in difficult situations.

3. Application to Daily Life:

• Are you running from difficult conversations, responsibilities, or God’s calling?

• Walking in righteousness doesn’t mean life is easy, but it means walking with courage, integrity, and God’s guidance.

📝 Reflection Questions:

  1. In what areas of my life am I “fleeing though no one pursues”?
  2. What fears are keeping me from standing boldly in truth and faith?
  3. How can I rely on God to give me courage to face situations I’ve been avoiding?
  4. Who in my life needs honest, bold, but loving communication from me?

🙏🏻 Prayer:

Lord, give me boldness to stand in righteousness. Help me to face fear and avoidance with courage, knowing that You are with me. Teach me to walk in integrity and to respond in faith, not fear. Amen.
