God Doesn’t Want Us to Live Pretending, Stuffing Down Our Emotions, or Hiding Pain
📖 Scripture:
“When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin.” – Psalm 32:3–5 (NIV)
🙌🏻 Devotional:
In this passage, David reflects on the burden of keeping things hidden inside. He describes how silence and suppression made him feel physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained — “my bones wasted away… my strength was sapped.” Suppressed emotions, guilt, and unspoken struggles weighed heavily on him, almost like carrying a constant pressure that left him exhausted.
But everything shifted the moment he acknowledged his sin and opened up before God. Instead of covering things up, David chose honesty. The result was forgiveness and freedom — the heavy burden lifted.
This verse shows us that hiding what’s inside doesn’t heal us; it harms us. True healing begins when we bring our hidden struggles, pain, and emotions into the light of God’s presence. He meets us not with condemnation, but with forgiveness, compassion, and restoration.
🙏🏻 Prayer:
Father, I confess that I often keep silent and hold in the emotions that weigh heavy on me. I don’t want to carry these hidden burdens anymore. Today, I choose to bring my heart honestly before You. Thank You that You are safe, forgiving, and gentle with me. Heal the places where silence has broken me, and replace heaviness with freedom in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
